Edgewood’s Schools

Lexington Elementary School

Where caring people, academics, arts and athletics connect, we prepare 21st Century graduates while service as the center for community learning.
— LES's Mission

Led by the team of James Hamby, Alicia Prezzy, Michele Zee and Lynn Dempsy, Lexington Elementary School is changing the way that primary school is done in Lexington.

As an International Baccalaureate school and a Palmetto Gold School award winner, LES features in-house initiatives called LexLeads and LexLearns.
LexLeads incorporates principals from “The 7 Habits of Happy Kids” to help students learn, recognize, appreciate and develop leadership skills with activities including morning announcements, LES - Live TV show team, WLES radio, student council, safety patrol, Special Friends and Cat’s Choir.
LexLearns focuses on student development; featuring a leadership skills “report card” (that does not impact academic grades), differentiated instruction plans, a self-contained instruction model, an early intervention program to help students achieve academic and behavioral success, and on-campus resources to help benefit student wellness.

Pleasant Hill Middle School

Be Committed, Be Caring, Be Courageous.
— PHMS's Motto

Pleasant Hill Middle School is the home of the “creative Cougars”.

As a participant in the South Carolina Arts Commission Arts in Education program, PHMS has decided to take a unique approach to learning through the fine arts with five art forms in daily instruction- art, creative writing, dance, drama and music.

Pleasant Hill is a Farm to School Grant recipient, meaning that their commitment to student wellness goes beyond their athletic programs.
The students maintain a school garden, where they learn about food production and healthy eating habits, and can serve as the Cafeteria Advisory Committee with the school cafeteria manager to discuss healthy meal options and test new recipes.
